Chloe Thum, LPCC
Anxiety / Perfectionism / Life Transitions / Relationship Concerns / Couples Counseling / Grief & Loss / Trauma Recovery
Chloe works with adolescents, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief, trauma, and self-esteem challenges. Her clinical experience includes anxiety disorders, trauma recovery, sexual trauma, body image concerns, eating disorders, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and major life stressors.
She is particularly passionate about helping individuals who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, self-doubt, overthinking, and the pressure to meet expectations. Many of her clients are thoughtful, capable individuals who find themselves stuck in cycles of worry, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or self-criticism. Through therapy, Chloe helps clients better understand these patterns while developing healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
In her work with couples, Chloe helps partners improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, navigate conflict, and develop a deeper understanding of one another. She believes healthy relationships are built through curiosity, vulnerability, and honest communication. Her goal is to help couples move beyond repetitive cycles of conflict and create more secure, meaningful connections.
Chloe's therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and direct. She believes therapy is most effective when clients feel both supported and challenged. While providing a compassionate, nonjudgmental space, she also encourages clients to explore difficult emotions, longstanding patterns, and experiences that may be contributing to present-day struggles.
Her work is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, which explores how past experiences, relationships, attachment patterns, and unconscious beliefs influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Chloe integrates this perspective with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, attachment-focused work, and other evidence-based approaches. She has a particular interest in helping clients develop greater self-awareness and insight while building practical tools for meaningful change. When appropriate and of interest to the client, she may also incorporate exploration of dreams as a pathway to deeper self-understanding.
Chloe views therapy as a collaborative process and believes clients are the experts on their own lives. Together, she and her clients identify patterns, build insight, strengthen coping skills, and work toward lasting growth and change.
Chloe holds a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, The Family Institute and a Bachelors in Music (Vocal Performance) from The New England Conservatory in Boston. Outside of her clinical work, Chloe enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, reading, and connecting with friends and family.
