Sam Evans, LPCC

Trauma Informed Therapist / Existential Therapy / Grief & Loss / Expressive Arts Therapy / Teens & Young Adults / Premarital Counseling

Helping you heal, find meaning, and create a life that feels authentically your own.

Sam works with teenagers, adults, couples, and individuals navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Her approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, creating a supportive and collaborative environment where clients can safely process experiences, develop insight, and move toward lasting growth and healing.

Outside of counseling, Sam enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, and trying new foods. She values adventure, curiosity, and lifelong growth, bringing those same qualities into her work with clients. Sam believes each person authors their own story and feels honored to walk alongside clients as they move toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary. Grounded in an existential perspective, she is passionate about helping clients explore meaning, find purpose, embrace uncertainty, and foster autonomy to overcome challenges. Sam also incorporates principles of attachment theory and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand how the past impacts the present and move forward.

In therapy, Sam enjoys incorporating expressive arts interventions to help clients explore emotions and experiences that may feel difficult to express verbally. When working with teens, Sam collaborates with parents to bridge communication gaps and build healthier family relationships. In her work with couples, Sam helps partners improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and better understand relational patterns by drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. Sam believes that healing happens through authentic connection, self-exploration, and feeling genuinely seen; therefore, she strives to create a non-judgmental space where all her clients can feel deeply known.

Sam is skilled in and holds special certifications in the following areas:

Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive arts interventions can provide meaningful ways to process emotions, experiences, and trauma that may feel difficult to fully express through words alone. Sam incorporates creative and experiential approaches such as storytelling, journaling, art, music, metaphor, and other expressive techniques to help clients explore their inner world in a safe and supportive environment.

Trauma-Informed Care
Sam's work is grounded in trauma-informed care, recognizing how past experiences shape the nervous system, relationships, identity, and emotional responses. Sam prioritizes creating a space where clients feel emotionally safe, empowered, and respected throughout the therapeutic process. Therapy moves at a pace that honors each client’s unique needs while helping them reconnect with themselves, build resilience, and move forward.

Existential Therapy, Grief & Loss
Existential therapy focuses on exploring meaning, identity, purpose, freedom, and the challenges that come with being human. Sam works with clients who feel stuck, disconnected, uncertain about their direction, or overwhelmed by life transitions and deeper questions about themselves and their future. This approach can be especially helpful for individuals navigating grief and loss. Whether grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or unmet life expectations, Sam helps clients process loss while making space for healing, reflection, and growth.

Teens and Young Adults

Sam understands that this stage of life often involves discovering who you are, what matters to you, and how you want to move forward. Sam has worked extensively with this age range and found that existential theory and art-based interventions are incredibly helpful for developing identity, navigating transitions, and creating a meaningful life.

Premarital Counseling

Sam offers premarital counseling using the Prepare/Enrich assessment, a research-based tool designed to help couples strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and build a strong foundation for the future.
